Both Windy Creek Britts came into the Nationals near the top in BDC’s Race for “Dog of the Year”. When the smoke cleared, however, they both “just missed” getting into the finals and were not able to compete for the coveted award.

The high point of the weekend for Windy Creek was the banquet where Dusty was honored for being Region 3’s “High Point” dog in both Doubles and Singles Pointing and where he was also honored for his year long effort in winning ” The Road Warrior” award.

Dan Sojka presided over an excellent banquet. His “Hall of Fame” presentations were heartfelt and enjoyed by everyone! Congratulations to these great dogs and their owners. nationals-results

Takes 2nd in Seniors with Jack and 2nd in Doubles with Steiny and Jack

March 14th, 2010
Heggemeier Game Farm
Higbee, Missouri PHU Nationals, 2nd Doubles, Dusty, Craig, and Jack

Running in soggy, rainy conditions all weekend nine year old  Dusty showed that on any given day he can still keep up with the younger dogs. His 2:49 run with Jack and Steiny in Doubles Pointer was only 6 seconds behind the winning run. Picking up scent from the gate bird on the line Dusty had his gate bird pointed at about 30 seconds. Jack took that bird and then Steiny and Dusty picked up the remaining 3 birds in a little over 2 minutes.Chad Bloomer and Jason Spielman won with their English Pointer Stuff.

Running with Jack on Friday in Seniors Pointer Dusty moved beautifully over the field nailing down  4 birds in a little over 6 minutes..a time that could have been considerably faster if his handler was in as good a shape for his age as Dusty. The event was won by Walt Chapman and Tim in 5:11.

Annie ran well all weekend but was not able to place in Pointing Singles and slipped to a tie for 3rd in the Dog of the Year standings. PHU Nationals, 2nd Seniors, Jack and Dusty

Dusty shook off recent surgery on his right front paw  to post 3rd and 4th place finishes in Doubles at the Central Wisconsin Chukar Challenge. These great runs coupled with other good runs during the season earned him the Wisconsin Series Doubles  Pointer “Dog of the Year Award.” He also  ran a quick 4:27 to win the singles event. Dusty turns 9 in April and will run an abbreviated schedule after the BDC Nationals. In the past 12 months Dusty has won 4 Majors, BDC’s “  Road Warrior Award”, and a Wisconsin Series DOY award. His 21 points earned at Woods and Meadows also keeps him in BDC’s Race for the Chase. Way to go Schmucky Boy!

Annie also had a good weekend. Her 4th place finish in Singles earned 8 points and brings her total to over 100 in BDC’s “Race for the Chase”. She continues to lead “The Chase”. She also finished 2nd in The Wisconsin Series Single Pointer “Dog of the Year “, missing 1st place by .55 points, and 3rd in Doubles “Dog of the Year”.

Special thanks to Craig Steinbach and Jamie Palmer for guiding Dusty and Annie  in the  Doubles events and to Kevin Kimmes, Dick Hynes, and Mark Sweeney for handling  them  in the Singles events!
